Men’s Health Week provides an important opportunity to raise awareness of the physical and mental health challenges faced by men across the UK. For the construction industry in particular, where men make up the majority of the workforce, it’s a chance to encourage open conversations, break down stigma, and remind people that support is available.

At Everlast, we believe that looking after our people is just as important as delivering exceptional projects. Creating a culture where colleagues feel comfortable talking about their wellbeing isn’t something we focus on for one week a year – it’s a commitment we make every day.

Challenging the Stigma Around Men’s Mental Health

While progress has been made, many men still feel pressure to keep their struggles to themselves. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, depression, financial concerns, or challenges at home, these issues can often go unspoken.

The construction industry has historically been known for its resilience and toughness, but true strength comes from recognising when support is needed and knowing where to find it.

That’s why Men’s Health Week is so important. It encourages us all to check in with ourselves and those around us, creating an environment where asking for help is seen as a positive step rather than a weakness.

Putting Wellbeing at the Heart of Our Culture

At Everlast, wellbeing is embedded throughout our business. We recognise that supporting our teams requires more than words – it requires action, resources, and a genuine commitment to creating a supportive workplace.

Our colleagues have access to a range of wellbeing support, including:

  • Dedicated Mental Health First Aiders across the business who are trained to provide initial support and guidance.
  • An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), offering confidential professional support whenever it’s needed.
  • An experienced in-house HR team who are always available to listen, advise, and signpost support.
  • Wellbeing cards distributed across our sites throughout the UK, ensuring important support information is always accessible.
  • Regular toolbox talks focused on wellbeing and mental health, helping to keep conversations active and encourage awareness across our teams.

These initiatives help ensure that support is visible, accessible, and available to everyone, whether they’re working in the office, on site, or travelling across the country.

Supporting Industry-Wide Change

We know that creating positive change requires collaboration across the industry, which is why we’re proud to support organisations that are making a real difference to men’s mental health.

Over the years, Everlast has partnered with and raised funds for organisations including the charity Andy’s Man Club and Lighthouse Charity. Through dedicated fundraising events, team challenges, and internal competitions, our employees have helped raise both awareness and vital funds to support the important work these charities do.

These partnerships reinforce our belief that nobody should have to face mental health challenges alone.

Keeping the Conversation Going

One of the most effective ways to tackle stigma is simply by talking about it.

Recently, we dedicated an episode of our podcast to men’s mental health, exploring the importance of open conversations within construction and sharing perspectives on how the industry can continue to improve. By providing a platform for honest discussion, we hope to encourage others to speak openly about their experiences and seek support when they need it.

Every conversation helps break down barriers and contributes to a healthier workplace culture.

Building a Stronger Future Together

This Men’s Health Week, we’re encouraging everyone to take a moment to prioritise their wellbeing and check in with those around them.

A simple conversation can have a lasting impact. Whether it’s reaching out to a colleague, speaking to a friend, or accessing available support, small actions can make a significant difference.

At Everlast, we’re committed to continuing these conversations, supporting our people, and helping drive positive change across the construction industry.

Because building a stronger future starts with looking after the people who make it possible.

This version is stronger from an employer-brand perspective because it demonstrates tangible actions rather than simply talking about wellbeing, while positioning Everlast as a leader in promoting positive conversations around men’s mental health in construction.
